SLE Applications

AVTP opened their second recruitment round for Specialist Leaders of Education on 15 January 2018. Application details are below.

An SLE needs to have a particular area of expertise and the capacity, skills and commitment to support others. Being designated as an SLE involves no additional pay but is a valuable opportunity for outstanding practitioners to develop their own professional learning.

As an AVTP SLE your role will include providing support within your own school but also being deployed by AVTP to support other schools in the Aylesbury Vale area as and when needed.

Further information about the role of SLEs and application guidance can be found at:  https://www.gov.uk/guidance/specialist-leaders-of-education-a-guide-for-potential-applicants

Eligibility

Outstanding middle and senior leaders with at least two years’ experience are eligible to apply.   Please note that for this round we are considering primarily designation for English, Maths and Primary SLEs although we welcome applications from other specialism areas. SLEs are designated for four years, as long as you continue to meet the eligibility criteria, after which you will be reviewed by the teaching school.

Commitments

Although there is no cost to apply, one day’s core training, chargeable to your school at £150 per delegate, is required to achieve full accreditation status with the NCTL. Your school will also have to commit to releasing you for training and deployment during the year as appropriate; this will obviously be mindful of your existing commitments.

The closing date for applications, to include a Headteacher reference, is 4.00pm on 5 February 2018. The interview date will be during the week beginning 19 February 2018.
